My Summer Reading List

Summer is the perfect time to read...outside laying in the lawn. Under a tree. During a storm. Under the covers until three in the morning...

So what to read?
These are a few of my picks for the summer...

The Complete Sherlock Holmes
I have always been a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes and mystery novels in general. Unfortunately, I have never set aside the time to read the massive Vol. 1 and 2 I have sitting on my bedside table filled with tales about the detective. The only real benefit is that now, due to the release of the movie, as I read I will imagine Robert Downey Jr.

The Sailor Moon Series
I have owned the shabby, poorly translated copies of the original Sailor Moon comic since I was in my first years of elementary school. Every summer I always set aside a week to read all of them, so naturally I have to carry on this tradition!

Emma
Yes, deep down inside I am a Jane Austen girl. Well...maybe not so deep down. But I love Jane Austen and all of her works. PBS recently had a series of movies based on her books, and Emma was easily my favorite. It made me want to re-read the novel so badly! So I will!

A Clockwork Orange
This past year, I somehow managed to see this movie more times than anyone probably will ever need to. The movie provided such an important and dynamic visual element, but I think the novel probably has so many fantastic lines and interesting thoughts.

The Count of Monte Cristo
This is the perfect book for Summer, in my opinion. It's a fantastic book that's precisely everything a summer needs: swordfights, romance, intellectual analysis of good v. evil. Read it!!

What are you reading?
